Unfortunately I have to admit I know of a few breeders that happily leave bitches to just get on with it and it is just typical that they have so far always been very lucky and all has been ok. It does irritate me that they just cant be bothered though, especially as I have been up for 2 nights now (and am very tired and bad tempered already ) and have a very long few weeks of sleeping next to my girl to come. I would just never forgive myself if anything happened to her and perhaps that is what people should think of before breeding their bitch, THEY are responsible for her and if anything should happen just because they couldnt be bothered to stay with her it is TOTALLY their fault. Could anyone really live with that guilt, I know I couldnt!!

Completely agree! Our bitch had puppies just over a week ago now and we stayed up with her the night before and have slept in the living room next to her every since, with our alarm waking us every 2 hours to check on her and the pup and to feed the pup. I would never dream of leaving her to just 'get on with it'.
