Seriously if you have a bitch SHE WILL COME INTO SEASON!! there is no excuse! It's really hacking me off! These poor puppies and the rescue centres who have to step in to clear up the mess.... There is no need!!!!

I know what you mean. If you cannot look after a bitch and dog and top them mating when in season then you shouldn't have them as its not in the best interests of the dog!

Accidents do happen even to the best and most responsible of people, but with that said, there is no excuse nowadays as to why the problem can't be rectified. Nearly everyone has access to the internet and can find a wealth of information at their finger tips, there are organisations that can help with funding to medical procedures such as mismate and/ or neutering.
Yes accidents can happen but the problem occurs when people don't try to fix the accident.

I am sick of people coming in my shop and going we got a bitch and our dog got to her oh no.... then the very very random crosses that come from it... Some of which you just look at and go why.... My current fav is a dog dalmation got at a young bitch (1) and gave her puppies?!?!

I love crosses but not the ones that make no sense... two breeds of dogs
that are very different... I wonder how the puppy will be wired?!?! will it have the energy levels of the dalmation but a heavier set of a rottie?

no such thing as an accidental litter!! accidental mating yes - but when that mating has took place, and you know about it - you have options. If you choose to continue with the litter thats done by choice...Its rare in my eyes to have a true accidental litter..

As you say accidental matings do happen - it's what people do next is the key. I always say when I see the posts and some people say it shouldn't have been allowed - there but the grace of god. One of my bitches is very small and very neat - I had them all out playing - and my boy was on her before we could blink - yep - little madam was in season - but no swelling or outward signs (even from my girls who normally hump each other senseless )

Mind you, the fun we have had bringing my boy and girl (the one above) together (intentionally and yes both same breed and fully health-tested), it makes me wonder how the hell all these accidental matings happen sometimes and how more dogs are not injured in the process

I know of one truly accidental litter - the bitch started putting on some weight, a tad too late - and had a singleton. The pup went on to become an American CH and is a great grandparent of one of my gang

I understand what you're saying, but you show so your dogs will be entire. The average pet owner has few valid reasons to keep entire dogs and bitches together IMO.

nothings as fast as a crestie My Karma was mated a few days after coming out I did have the mismate. Its just one of those things, it can happen but its down to owner to be responsible.
