Yes, as they suckle they cause a release of oxytocin (a bonding hormone). Just keep on trying. Some bitches never want to clean their pups (too posh to push springs to mind ), so you may have to continue this. Don't forget to clean their faces or they will get scabby. Just use a warm wet flannel.
C sections must be quite daunting for a bitch, more so than for people as you can't explain to her that they are her babies.

Re: my girls due anytime

Give her anything she will eat just to get her going again.. we had this problem with Fizzi after all the problems she had with her litter, we got her eatting again we fresh chicken and pilchards in tomato sauce - you can also try cottage cheese and the like, anything real smelly and nice for them! Hope she picks up soon!

I don't know much about schnauzers but those pups do look quite big... and beautiful
Glad things are picking up with her and agree with DD, we gave Coco whatever she would eat and lots of it.

Re: my girls due anytime

we start at around 3weeks with the cresties, by then they are starting to look for food and nipping their heads into mums bowl given the chance. You can soak it into the milk or warm water to make a mush its up to you, alot of people use the milk because they feel its a better encouragement to the puppies, but ours have never needed any encouragements - Glad to hear their doing well, you have done fab with them

I start at 2 week and 3-4 days. Toys start a bit later generally speaking, but anything bigger than a toy around the 3 week mark ish
