Her boss sounds very sensible to me and is probably quite handsome too, but if she doesn't get me a dog soon I am going to sack her.

Hi Guys
Dont touch 'em with a barge pole! If the prospective owner can't be bothered to pick up the phone what chance that they will walk, train and socialise the dog?
In Dalmatians if we get an odd or concerning caller we have a Dalmatian Forum and let other puppy owners know.

That's a good idea. They might learn what to say to sound like good owners by calling a couple of breeders and getting turned down

Thats the down side to the joys of having a litter, the vetting of owners and with the best will in the world there will always be one or two fools that slip through! I have sleepless nights about my prospective puppy owners!

Yeah I know i really put my prospective owners through the ringer and street viewed all there houses too. There is no way the would have got passed the first call. The problem is like nicky said they start to learn what to say. we had people come from hours away to see a pup, they were keen to put a deposit on a pup but they were not suitable, they were not impressed .

Re: Some people have no idea

They probably don't want the hassle of house training a young pup. Trouble is, not all 6 month olds are house trained and I'd rather house train an 8 week old pup, where you can start from scratch as opposed to a 6 month old pup that has got into bad habits.
