Why, when you read adverts for puppies for sale do they say something along the lines of "puppies will be wormed and de-flea'd"?

The puppies shouldn't have bloody fleas in the first place, so why the need to de-flea them. It appears that people are just pointlessly dosing up puppies on medication. Grrrrr

My pet hate is that a lot of dogs aren't health tested before being bred. It is so frustating. And new pet owners don't know about health tests so just buy any old pup, not knowing what the consequences are.

I agree Tanya unless other pets living in the house have fleas why do they feel it is necessary to deflea pups that can not go out of the house anyway unless they think it is to protect them against the possiblity of catching them at thier new homes. Mine are always wormed every 2 weeks but are never deflead.

My dogs are not health tested there are no required tests in whippets and Zoe is CLAD and PRA genetically clear but if we had decided to breed with her she would have been tested just to be safe.

Also the ones that say £300 cheaper if they do not bother with KC registration when it only costs £15 to register a pup.

• Breeders spinning prospective owners fictitious yarns over why their pups are not KC registered

Breeders who talk the talk but don't walk the walk. (such as giving out advice that they don't even follow.)

And

People who are breeding, but aren't living within their means. (Including but not limited to those who breed for profit.)

And

People who abuse the system(s). (Charging extra for KC reg, breeding without having a proper income etc.)

I don't get why you would sell puppies non-KC reg when both parents were.

A friend from school's mom recently got a lab pup, and I asked what her kennel name was, and if the parents were hip tested, just so I could see the parents etc (They know that I love dogs and I'd mentioned beforehand that I could look into breeders for them). She replied with "oh well she's not registered. the parents were though. I don't care though as I'm not breeding from her". I just replied with, "well that's not really the point..." and left it with that!

Madness, she's cute as, but I dread to think what her hips will be like in the future if there were no testings

When we were looking for GSDs, we kept coming across "rare blue GSD pups", which are being extortionately priced. Or pups that would cost an extra €50 to be registered. And the different prices regarding males and females. The flea thing doesn't bother me, because it doesn't necessarily mean the owner then has to keep doing it. But GSDs advertised as great guard and family dogs annoyed me too, because half of them were being reared outside.

ETA: when I say outside I mean in a shed with mum, not being handled, not being socialised to household noises etc.

Yep! these bug the hell out of me too!
