Re: Results are back.....
That's a shame but at least you know you're not going to produce any affected puppies

If a dog is a carrier it is never affected at all by it. It just means if its to be bred from it has to be mated to a CEA clear (DNA). If a carrier is mated to affected you get half affected, half carriers. If a carrier is mated to a carrier you get: 1/4 = Normal 1/2 = Carriers 1/4 = Affected. But if a dog is a carrier it does not affect them at all. Since any pups leaving me will be endorsed and DNA CEA tested before they go I think its pretty safe to say that anyone hoping to breed from one of mine will be told exactly who they can breed to in order to prevent any pups being born affected. http://www.optigen.com/opt9_test_cea_ch.html The 2nd table should help you ![]() |

Re: Results are back.....
But you could still breed a cat with endorsements if you really wanted surely. Just couldn't register/show the kittens

Re: Results are back.....
If you eliminate the carriers you have far too small a gene pool. Happened in chinese cresteds I believe and caused quite a few problems
