Re: frankie (pug) due anyday

Isn't that a bit soon? Or is it different for small breeds. Sorry I don't know much about smaller breeds, I'm a big doggy person!

Hope all pups come out safe and sound and remember photos xx

Well, unless there is a valid reason and the previous litter was very small (like, one or two pups) then I can see no reason whatsoever to breed consecutive seasons, the bitch needs time to rest and recover. Its generally recommended to leave at least one season before litters but most people will leave 2 or 3 to give the bitch a chance to get over the previous litter fully.

It makes no difference what breed it is I believe the OP is an accredited breeder so im surprised they are breeding consecutive seasons as I was sure there are rules about the frequency of litters from the same bitch under the ABS. Most breed clubs also have it in their code of ethics that you must not breed consectutive seasons, the one printed in my pug club newsletter does im sure, but on the (rubbish) website they only have the general dog care guidelines. Im sure when i joined I had to agree to abide by their code of ethics which had a lot to do with age and frequency of litters...

But either way, its not something I agree with at all and have had heated conversations with "friends" who have done this for their own convenience.

Hmm I thought so but didn't want to say anything in case I was completely wrong

So OP, why did you breed consecutive seasons?

Add: Checked back and she had 7 pups in May.

Re: frankie (pug) due anyday

there's no mention of matings on consecutive seasons on ABS scheme. ,
members must

"Follow Kennel Club policy regarding maximum age and number/frequency.
