Endorsing puppies

I am in full agreement with endorsing papers on your pups at registration but what about if you use your stud? Not on our own, but on an outside bitch, is there anyway you can make sure those pups are endorsed?

Re: Endorsing puppies

I suppose it depends mainly on the relationship you have with the owner of the bitch as alot of it would be down to good faith. You could have it stated in your stud service contract that any resulting puppies would be endorsed, however again down to good faith i suppose if they comply.

Re: Endorsing puppies

Ace was/is endorsed. The owner of the stud made sure of this.
The bitch owner really wanted to use him so the stud owner had a condition that if he were used on her bitch all pups must be endorsed until proof of health tests had been done

Not sure they can make the bitch owner do this though

Re: Endorsing puppies

I know the pups we're going to see are endorsed, they used an outside stud, so I don't know if it was the stud dog owners requirement or theirs, but any of the *reputable* breeders I contacted, I expected them to have endorsements on the pups, it didn't come as a surprise. Is someone using your dog as stud and you're worried they won't put an endorsement on them or....?
I'm sure if they are in any way decent they would do it off their own bat?

No I don't have a stud dog but if I did this would be a major concern for me

Technically, a stud contract cannot force you to do anything, but they can refuse to sign the reg papers for the litter, or contest it if you reg them online so the litter will go unregistered. This is part of my contract, that the litter must be endorsed, if they fail to endorse, I won't sign the reg papers.... although this would never be able to stand on a legal ground.... basically, I have them over a barrel. I have no conditions on which they are lifted... just left at the discretion of the breeder.... but at least I know I have done my bit, as far as I can.

Re: Endorsing puppies

Most breeders I know endorse their pups where they can only breed/stud after health test results are shown to be good

Re: Endorsing puppies

I'd also want to vet the homes as they're still partly your babies. Wouldn't be for me all this breeding lark - far too paranoid my pups wouldn't go to the best homes available, especially if left to someone else's discretion.
