I hope you've taken time to read and digest some of the really good advice, and come to the realisation that there is an awful lot more to breeding responsibly than just finding two dogs of the same breed and colour, and having your vet tell you your dog is still breathing and has four legs Honestly, don't go with the advice of your vet or anyone who hasn't got good experience breeding dogs, Tanya and others on here who have experience are giving you the benefit of years of knowledge between them.

I think i am right in saying that Goldens generally come from Black heritage (well Oscar does), having said that Oscars Mum and dad were both Golden and all the pups were golden and the same with the previous litter she had.

Re: Dog Breeding

If you mate two golds together you should get all gold, like you would with yellow Labs. The main thing is that Labs come in 3 colours whereas there's a possible 21 colours in Cockers .

Yup this is true, golden is only expressed by the dog having both recessive (ee) genes. Therefore 2 golds would produce only golden pups. It is when the gold is mated to a different colour you get the variation demonstrated in the pups as the recessive (ee) masks any other genes the dog possesses.

I can't claim to know anything about coat colour inheritance in Cockers - but if I had to make a guess, would have assumed it was similar to the yellow recessive in Labs - i.e. to goldens would produce only golders
