2nd litter question

Actually more of a second time around question

If your bitch has already had a litter and it is now time for a second will she be ready for mating in the same sort of time frame as the last time or will she change the day she wants to mate?

Last time she decided that around day 15/16 was good which is quite late, but boy did she have a good time the poor dog was exhausted

do I expect her to want to go for the same days or what?

Absolutely nothing cast in stone - if in doubt, premate

Re: 2nd litter question

We had an E.Setter bitch, first litter conceived from one mating on day 3!!! Ok, she may not have ovulated until day 7-8 (before premate testing became the way forward) 2nd litter, mated day 16 and 17 conceived a litter. Both litters of 8.

P. Testing is the way to go

why would it make you uncomfortable?

Some bitches don't like being mated - and there are those who would say it is wrong for them to be mated - and then there are others who are literally 'gagging for it' - now that makes people uncomfortable

My eldest is a liability when she is in season still - we refer to her as "the tart from hell"

Her eldest daughter OTOH didn't overly enjoy any of the motherhood experience and unlikely ever to do it again - her younger half sister OTOH has all the hallmarks of following her mother in the 'tart' stakes

Re: 2nd litter question

Coco is a right little tart, she shoves her butt in Rusty's face and if he misses the spot or isn't quick enough on the uptake, she's on him as if showing him what to do not that he needs it lol
Starlite likes this.
