Royal Canin Starter

Hello everyone!

Has anyone used the RC starter? If so how did you get on with it?

We dont normally change food when in pup but since she is already on RC i thought i might give it a go.

Thanks

Re: Royal Canin Starter

There are far better foods out there for the price but far worse.

I swear by RC for my westie x JRT but it doesnt sit right with my staff who's on Skinners instead. Both get Wainwrights Wet as well.

My MIL's boxer has a really sensitive tummy and he's on RC sensitive now and WW and he's doing really well.

One of those, if it works for the dog, just see how it goes. You can always add in some wet if you are not happy.

Re: Royal Canin Starter

All my shelties are on royal canin and have been since they were weaned from mum. Never had any problems...at all. Its a great food or at least I feel it is, there are worse foods out there but there are better foods. I like royal canin and dont think I will ever take my dogs off it.

Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble

This website was created by one of the biggest boxer forums on the internet. They are completely impartial and rate their foods 1-6 stars.

Here's a RC food they reviewed:

Dog Food Reviews - Royal Canin Veterinary Diet canine Low Fat LF 20 - Powered by ReviewPost

Most of the foods produced by RC are listed as 2 star foods:

http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_f.../cat/6/page/33

A lot of the foods listed aren't available out here, but you can get some higher quality foods for around the same price as RC at Zooplus (Acana, Orijen, TOTW) etc.

Use it as a tool to decide for yourself what best to feed your dogs.

Re: Royal Canin Starter

I used RC Starter for our last litter and they really enjoyed it. When the pups were older and eating outside of the puppy area, the adults were stealing any bits that they left so they all enjoyed.

I'll be using it again when the next litter arrive cos all pups did very well on it but being totally honest, I was mixing a little bit of chicken or mince in with it too but only a spoonful just for a little taste.

Re: Royal Canin Starter

We have raised the goldens and the welsh on Starter with really good results, did trial a different one with the last litter but didnt get on with the really stinky poo!!!!!!!!!!!! Tibetans were raised on the Purina Salmon and Rice but purely because this has been the best food for mum.

We have looked at all the reviews but being honest we give what the dogs do well on, we have at present 4 different brands here and feed what the dogs de well on

Starter is the one for us

That's the way I look at it.

Its ok using all these sights, and you could pick the best, most expensive 5 star rated food out there, if it doesn't sit right for your dog it isn't going to do them any good.
