British Utonagan Association

Calling all Utonagan owners, BUA have been growing rapidly and now have regular shows, get-togethers, members forum, online shows. We are trying to get agility, obedience and rigging in the near future.

We would like to build our stud and brood numbers, we offer a service to breeders of advertising studs, litters, litter registration we also have an accredited breeder scheme all accredited breeders sign our breeders code of ethics and abide by these, all stock are hip and eye tested.

Please visit the web-site or come into the forum for a chat

The Utonagan Association (TUA) and The Utonagan Society (TUS) don't have to advertise themselves to get people to join them, they get new members by word of mouth and recommendation alone. Doesn't that tell you something about the BUA......

Besides it isn't the quantity of breeders you have BUT the quality....

Anyone would think you had something against the BUA?

Re: British Utonagan Association

Unfortunately it is scarily indicative of the massive problems within the wolf lookalike "breeds" - all of which only originated 20 years ago from the "Northern Inuit" - that there are three breed clubs for a "breed" which is numerically tiny. Add these to the NIS, TIDA and several others and the reports of serious health problems within these "breeds" and you have a very clear picture of a "breed" or "breeds" in serious disarray.

Re: British Utonagan Association

Yes sad but true the breeds are in dissaray....looking at the reply you will see why there are splits...not the dogs the people, hell bent on childish comments...BUA advertises to encourage Ute owners who have left the breed clubs to come back and get involved...we advertise to show that we are welcoming to all genuine people and to show that we unlike many are not interested in schoolyard nonsense, we are interested in the dogs and the owners...all factions are concentrating on the health and collating records and we are all doing our bit...we all communicate and we all wish each other well...in the future I am sure a harmonious balance could be acheived if the children stopped acting so....

BUA enjoys their dogs and their membership and we all work together very well, if our dogs are happy and our members are happy ...well we have done our job ..no matter how small.

Re: British Utonagan Association

I have just went and caught up with a thread "Charmed one" are you charmed in liable and slander????????

What you have suggested on another thread about BUA is absolutely ludicrious/ in fact it is nearly word for word exactly what TUS had all over their web site which was taken off after they received a letter approved by our lawyer to say it was slander!!

BUA started before the fall outs amongst TUS, of which 8 of us at BUA were, and some of which Comittee and sub-comittee...there were a hell of alot more reasons than what you insinuate ... one of which was the fact that we could not get any health info from the advisor concerned, there were conflicting stories about pedigrees etc etc...mainly because we were all fed up with the bitching..

The eye problem you mention is and has always been documented from start to now on our web site...we are following the guidance of a specialist and a geneticist with regards to this!! It is also fully documented in our annual Health report! Our accredited breeders:
Hip test, eye test, had the first puppy litter eye screens , did the first KC dna tests, set up with AHT dna collection for research into MRD are working with TUA at collecting samples for CEN with regards research into epilepsy, we intend to bring in elbow scoring and Von willebrands test also into our breeding stock, and are trying very hard to breed healthy dogs and trying to improve on our breed, although BUA is a new faction there are people involved who are more experienced than most, one member has been in the breed since the time of its creation, one member has been involved in breeding for over 20 years, most members are very weel informed dog owners our vet is very qualified the specialist and geneticist who help out also very qualified.... So why on earth do you try and make out we do not know or care about the health of our dogs???

This says more about you than BUA.
Welcome to the British Utonagan Association

Given the fact that within 20 years the "breed" has split several times (NI, BI, Ute, Tamascan etc etc) and that there are at least half a dozen Breed Clubs for a set of "breeds" that are still numerically tiny; and, given the fact that the largest club is headed up by someone with animal cruelty convictions; and, given the fact that pedigrees have been shown to be at the very least innacurate and at worst completely made up, counting the grains of sand on a beach might be an easier task, but I wish you well!

Re: British Utonagan Association

Hi Carol,

They are and VERY addictive,,, I have worked with animals all my life and had a good few experiences with most breeds...The Utonagan is a world apart when it comes to their loving nature....as far as Im concerned I couldnt ask for better pets...(except ma beardie )

I looked at Huskies, Malamutes and more arctic breeds before finding the Inuit then I came across Utes by accident...they have all the good qualities of them wrapped into one...not saying I still wont get my Mal now OH is going to build me my des res dog house hee hee....
