Scanning

Hiya - when booking in for a scan at my vets for my bitch I was told I had to wait until they called me to go in and get it done which could be any time when they are open (8am-7pm) When I asked for a rough time as in am/pm they couldnt even give me that

Is this normal? Its just a pain as me and my partner have saved all our holiday for when/if the puppies are born and would be annoyed if I wasted a days holiday when they could call me at 5, which could be used for the puppies!

Thanks

Re: Scanning

Sounds a bit odd to me. Is it your normal vet or a specialist. I had my girls scanned at a normal vet and had a normal appointment. I obviously made them aware before hand. I dont knw if it is the same at a specialist though.

Re: Scanning

Yeh this is just at my normal vet! It was really frustrating because the vet said he could even do saturdays but as soon as i got through to reception they said they dont do it on Saturdays and have to book in for the whole day! Frustrating!

Re: Scanning

That sounds completely unreasonable. Perhaps it's worth phoning around other vets - or asking people here for other recommendations. Not my area I'm afraid.

Re: Scanning

I am in Chelmsford Essex if anyone knows of any near?

I will try ringing the other local vets, but they are often picky about not being registered there!

I did think it was a bit odd - but as it was the first time I perhaps thought it may be normal!

Re: Scanning

that is really strange for your vet to suggest that you just need to book her in when she would be approx 33 days if you can find a sheep scanner as already suggested by dexter it would most definately be more accurate just thinking unless your vet doesnt have a scanner and has to get one bought in on a certain day :-)
