Re: What Do You Expect From Breeders Websites/Whats On Yours?

Having been looking for a dog for the best part of two years and having looked at many breeds and breeder websites let me tell you what I want.

1. As much information as possible, mostly all of it has been mentioned here already. More importantly it lets me know how seriously you take your subject. Now writing stuff for websites is not for everyone so does not have to be War and Peace.

2. And this is very important, it must be up to date. It is amazing how many calls and emails I have sent to people who have "puppies available now" only to find out that it was true 6 months or a year ago and even in some cases 2-3 years ago.

3. If you ask for people to email you, then return the email. Again I have contacted people who seem to actively breed and have asked to be contacted if you want to be considered for their next litter and I have never received a reply.

After a 2 year search we now have a deposit down on a Labrador puppy (in the end suited whole family, mind you I'll get my Leonberger on day) whose details I got from kennel club breeders list and who happens to live about 300 yards away, would you believe it. We get the little fella in 2 weeks.
