It's only about 6 days til my little girlie (Gypsy) is due to have her first litter and I'm starting to get really nervous. I'm excited about it too but this is my second litter and things did'nt go to plan exactly last time. With my first litter (with my older girl (Pepsi)who is now nearly 10), I ended up having to hand rear 8 pups. Pepsi had 12 puppies, 2 still born, and two died with fading puppy. It was a very difficult few weeks to get all the pups through having fading puppy syndrome but we did end up with 8 lovely pups in the end. Granted this was about 4 years ago now but I am worried cos I know some of the difficulties that can happen. My mentor has said not to worry too much, as last time was a one off hopefully and fingers crossed things should go a lot more smoothly this time but oh God its such a worry is'nt it till they get here. I am hoping to keep a pup out of this litter to carry the lines on . Wish us luck!![]() |

Well looks like things are starting to happen. This morning Gypsy had a touch of the runs and then refused any breakfast, was sick and has started to go under the bushes in the garden looking for a nest. She's in the house now and is looking so sorry for herself, obviously feeling very sick, oh bless! Have rang OH and my sister to be on stand-by for the kids and rang my mentor to let her know things seem to be underway. Oh god its so worrying but so exciting too. Pups are still very active in her belly though. Oh well, better go and call the vets to keep them informed too

Re: Starting to get really nervous
Yeh, will do. Hopefully I can download them ok
. Gypsy is fast asleep at the mo. Known my luck she'll end up going on like this for days. Her temp is quite low though so I hope it's just not my imagination . Will keep everyone informed. |
