Well Gypsy has been fine today, temperature is back up to 37.5 and she seems to be eating as normal. Seemed a little bit sicky but nothing major. But we have had a bit of a scare tonight. I took her outside for a wee and she started to sort of chomp her lips, she walked a couple of steps and then collapsed on the floor. I panicked, shouting to my son that she was having a fit and told him to rush and phone the vet and by the time my son had ran back in the house, Gypsy had come round and was standing up. My god, they don't half know how to scare the hell out of you. She walked back into the house and I phoned a local vet straight away(my vets are a 35 min drive away and so i thought the local vets would be a better idea). They seem to put it down to something Boxer dogs do and seems to be quite common where it happens due to low blood pressure(she has been heart tested clear). They said to keep an eye on her and phone them if it happened again. I have to say that I was'nt too convinced they really knew what it was so I also phoned my own vets. They seem to think that it could be down to reflux. Gypsy has been a little sicky and drooling a little today as though she has a touch of indegestion. They too said to keep an eye on her and to ring them back in an hour or so to let them know how she is and then to take her in tomorrow morning for a check up. Has anybody else ever come across this kind of thing before? It's so scarey I just wish everything was over with now but I know things will happen in their own time.

Re: Starting to get really nervous
Just took her temperature again and its down again to 37.2! She seems to be fine at the moment and is quite settled asleep on the floor in the livingroom. I am going to sleep in the kitchen next to her in her whelping box tonight to keep an eye on her and we will go for a check up in the morning. Today, she has been sleeping on her back alot, next to the settee, with her legs up in the air, obviousely this must have been comfortable for her. The vet was saying that a dogs main artary(sorry about spelling) runs down behind the spine and maybe she has been putting extra pressure on it with the weight of the pups, so this could be why she has fainted. Who knows, these things are sent to try us.lol.

Re: Starting to get really nervous
No pups yet!
We went to vets yesterday to get Gypsy checked out after her little episode the other night and she is fine. Had her scanned again and puppies seem to be fine and vet measured them and said they are ready to be born . She was panting a little last night, but it did'nt last. This morning have noticed that Gypsy has had a little bit of milk leaking from her boobies so thats a good sign, she is eating fine today but showing no other signs of giving birth. Never mind, just means yet another night on the sofa . If anything happens I'll keep you informed. Cheers, Christine. |

Re: Starting to get really nervous
Oh, oh, just checked Gypsys temperature again and its gone down to 37 .c.(98.6 f ) Surely this must mean things are on their way
. She is alot more restless and once again is not wanting to eat(or drink much). She has spent the afternoon in her whelping box too instead of following me around all day. I spent another night on the couch but she slept next to me on her quilt and only got up for wees . I know you all may think I'm a bit of a loon but for two days now I have had what I can only describe as a crampy tummy - and no it's not that time of the month for me. Maybe I've got a phantom dog pregnancy eek:.lol. who knows . |
