Re: wetabix

Aww poor pups!! To be honest, if he can afford to feed himself, surely he can afford to feed a bitch and her litter... Even if it's mushed up adult food, or raw minces.

Would using a blender to grind the food help, maybe make it more digestible? That's what I do for my gerbil who's having teeth problems and it's helped her a lot.

Re: wetabix

oh ffs, weetabix was always the weaning food until some smart arse came along and made people feel guilty for giving it.

When my pups first started weaning I gave them the Royal Canin repro starter mashed up with lactol but they weren't overly fussed on it so I went back to what I'd known growing up... WEETABIX !!!! The pups were straight in there and enjoying it, gaining weight every day. After the first few days, I started to add other stuff to it... pedigree wet puppy food, then some of the RC repro and gradually I reduced the weetabix so that it was the pedigree, RC and lactol and later I stopped the pedigree and replaced it with mince or ground chicken breast.

I don't see anything wrong with starting on weetabix, for those that feel like slating me, go for it, I couldn't give a rats ar$e what you think

yes that would be good so long as its soaked in either goats milk puppy formula or at worst water to make it really sloppy and soft

because at the end of the day dogs guts are short they havent evolved to digest wheat hence why its absolutley no good for them...and as thats all thats in weetabix theyre not getting anything nutritious at all so far better to feed adult dog food softened.

Re: wetabix

Weetabix and rice pudding are old fashioned foods given to pups as PART of their diet, both of mine had a supper of weetabix with luke warm goats milk as their last meal of the day up until 16 weeks of age, once they'd come home with me, BUT until that point, they had received small and frequent meals of minced chicken and puppy porridge, to give them the best start. I still give rice pudding occasionally, a dollop with their tripe to help give a few more calories when it's cold.

Echo what others have said, if it was an accident, why wasn't the pregnancy terminated? What if the bitch had needed urgent medical attention?? What if they still need urgent medical attention???

In that case, you can get blenders for around £12 from Argos, called Mini Choppers. They are electric excepy you need to keep your hand on the button or it stops.
