Just got off the phone with the kennel club and the kennel name is now 100% ours, no objections nothing!

Now I have the hard task of changing the dogs names to our kennel name.

Aparently if I sent the change of name papers in with the reigisteration paper for the dog they will send me a new updated one. Does this sound right to those of you who have done it?

Yes hun they will send you out revised KC documents, i paid extra for the 5 gen one to coz i was so chuffed

You need to fill in form 8. One for each dog:

Then what you have to decide is how to add your affix. It will need to be "So'n'so's Alaska (at, for, von, with, etc) Your Affix"

It costs £8 per dog to have this done. There are rules though, like you can't change the name of a dog that has a stud book entry etc.

Congratulations - my original one was objected to as it was already in circulation - so had to go through all the hassle then of coming up with another name

I recently transferred pup into my name online - and had been grumbling at the KC that I would have to wait for the papers and then send them back to add my kennel name - they did it for me over the phone - so saved a lot of hassle

No idea if they will accept standard applications to add kennel names in the same manner - but no harm in asking - the worst they can do is say no and if they say yes, then you have saved yourself a bit of form filling

Make sure you know what joining words you want for each dog (although this time, I just added my name without a joining name as picked pups KC name on the basis of how it rolled off the tongue

I want a "new" reg paper for the dogs with the kennel extention on it so will I have to do it by application form?

I think I will use "at" as others dont fit so well.

Was it in the November or December issue of the gazette? Mine's in December's. Can't wait till it's official - don't think I could think of any more names!

Mum got her first name to although that was way back now - it was great to get first pick, as we liked the meaning! I personally wont ever have my own affix as by the time I am educated enough, and responsible enough to take on breeding my self mum should (sadly) be long gone, and I shall take over!

I didn't realize that you could change the names of any pre KC registered dogs - only the ownership!
Can someone confirm this??
