Are your dogs parents/lines health tested?

Just following on from the other thread about KC reg pups/dogs

I wondered if your dogs are from health tested parents? If not, why?

Not a debate, I would only buy a dog from health tested parents, I see alot forsale that arent and wonder who buys them and why?

Re: Are your dogs parents/lines health tested?

Both of my shelties are from health tested parents.

I would not buy from un-health tested parents.

Re: Are your dogs parents/lines health tested?

Mr B is from rescue, I know where he came from and found the so called breeder on the internet after doing some research, safe 2 say he aint from health tested stock.

Cara is from health tested parentage and can go back in her pedigree and c all health tests have been done, she is far superior 2 Mr B and better put together, fit for purpose as they say

Re: Are your dogs parents/lines health tested?

Mine are not health tested but like others I would never buy from un-tested parents. Both of mine are rescues so very doubtful that they were tested as neither are great examples of the breed.

Re: Are your dogs parents/lines health tested?

All my 3 are, though with my first one after carefully looking for health tested parents, caring breeder etc, I chose with the puppy who had the most obvious problem! I just loved him!

He had an undescended testicle, which they had a job to find when he had the op at 6 months, poor boy ended up with 3 scars, it was right up in his abdomen! A few months later he developed a luxating patella, and had another op. Then he went on to develop MVD at 2. He's 4 now and it hasn't progressed at all thankfully!

Health testing isn't always a guarantee that there won't be problems, but it reduces the likelihood of it.
