No sign of puppies yet but a little guidance if possible please

There is no sign of any puppies yet, noticed a couple of things the last few days, she has gone really calm and quiet. I have everything prepared now and she has been going into her whelping box and making it comfortable
I have a quiet area sectioned off just for her but a few things concern me a little if you could maybe help put my mind at rest I would appreciate it.
Her tummy is huge but its very very deep pinky red. Is this normal?
dont know if it shows very well in the pictures but it is in normal light.
Also the taking temperature bit i just cant do, im so sorry for her that i cant but she hates it and to be honest i do too so are there any other signs i can look out for?
Ive noticed she has swelled a little at the back and it is a little puffed up and soft and last week she got a crispy bit ( bit like a scab ) so sorry for that hahah sounds disgusting, which i cleaned from her .... any ideas?

What day is she on?

Pops belly got very pink and sore looking, I mentioned it on here a few times and its normal.

She also really hated having her temp taken at first but after the first few times she accepted it had to happen.

Softening of the vulva is a good sign too.

Look out for an increase in discharge,

she may start to dig at her box/blankets and Pop also was shaking on and off in the 24 hours leading up to whelping.

oh and I knew something was up when she refused a bite of a custard cream!

Yes thats exactly what it looks like...like its very sore... I know it isnt because she keeps getting up beside me and lying on her back nudging me to stroke it. when i stop she nudges me again. I can feel and see them rolling around etc.

She has a discharge but shes had it for a few days so i will keep an eye on it.
She wont eat her food. I keep making her warm porridge cause its the only thing she will eat...hope thats ok.
When she was refusing to eat her normal food she kept vomiting bile so i tried lots of things and only the porridge is accepted.

I dont know her due date. I only know it was middle of September ( roughly ) when its happened.

I will look out for the shaking just incase. When i think about it i actually start to shake lol.
thank you pug d x

If you don't know when shes due I would really try to take her temp because its one of the best indicators something is going to happen when it drops.

Re: No sign of puppies yet but a little guidance if possible please

just before, she might have stringy bits of mucas coming away when she pees. The puppies will have moved right down and you might even see that the shape of her belly has changed with pups being more on each side as opposed to being just a big round bump in the middle. She'll probably be panting a lot more. She may go off her food and she may be sick or have runs.

I couldn't stick the thermometer up Coco's bum either I used to stick it in her ear and hold the ear flap down lol, the reading was only a tiny bit lower than the other end so I was ok doing it that way but OH was doing it properly whenever he was here and being typical male wasn't as often as he should have been... ie 24/7 !!

I think thats an entirely different situation, thats a matter of life and death and thats when i go into auto pilot. I hate blood but when I went into labour at home I managed to deliver my baby

Thanks for the indicators to watch for, will be keeping a very close eye for the signs x

I think its the dog who doesn't like it being done, not her who doesn't want to do it.
