Which would you pick?

Okay, I have been thinking. Since hip score's are not 100% proven to be genetic and so on I wanted to see what you would pick.

I am breeding Alaska next year and I know who I have picked but woudl love to know who you would pick.

I have done all hte health tests apart from 1 because the company has shut down and we are awaiting a new company to take over.

My bitch's stats:
CEA: Clear.
DNA : UNKNOWN
HIPs : total 10

Dog 1:
DNA: Carrier. (CEA)
Hips: total 5.
CEA: Clear.

Dog 1 has won a couple of things like best reserve puppy and best in show at a Companion dog show.

Dog 2:
Hips: total 9
CEA: Clear.
DNA: Unknown.

Dog 2 has won his JW and has won his open at crufts 2009 and 2010 and has also gained his ShCM.

Which dog would you pick?

The one with the titles but high hips or the one with low hips but is a cea carrier.

I would pick dog 1 lower hips score

Re: Which would you pick?

How heavily has dog 1 been shown? There are lots of nice dogs that never go in a show ring. Just because he hasn't won anything doesn't mean he can't be a better dog conformation wise than dog 2.

He has been shown at every breed show for 2 years.

Also both pedigree's compliment my bitch's although dog 2 has been used on Alaska's sister and half sister with great success, and dog 2 was offered to me by Alaska's breeder as the best option.

Re: Which would you pick?

what is the hip score average for your breed.

If it were me and these were the two dogs I had to pick from then as long as the total hip scores of your dog and the male added together were below the average for the breed I would more than likely go with dog 2.

But then again I know nothing about your breed or your dogs so JMO

Re: Which would you pick?

I would go with my dogs breeder but I trust her commitment to the breed.

My breed is average is 16.

Also may I add that hips are not always genetic as alaska's dad had 0:0 and his dad had 3:3 and his mum had 4:5.

I never thought about that...adding the two scores together.

I trust Alaska's breeder fully. She has actually just won a JW with her most recent puppy (I say puppy because when I picked alaska up she was only 5 weeks older than alaska) and everyone in the show world knows her.
