Re: Need Help!!
I'd be keeping her close 24/7 with these signs and at this stage. One of my mentor's girls birthed a healthy thriving litter of four on day 57. Have you been taking her temperature?

Re: Need Help!!
Yeah, I am making sure to be able to see her and see what she's doing! I haven't taken her temperature because it makes her really uncomfortable!! It's really hard to do so on her. So I know that makes it a bit more difficult because I don't know if her temperature dropped or not to get an idea of when she might start labor. Her tummy has been very hard frequently, and I guess all I can do is wait and see if I see hard contractions. Do you think she'll have more discharge once labor really starts?

Re: Need Help!!
I've only been lead hand at birthing a couple of foster litters in the past. Others I've helped and witnessed with mentors, but I far from feel competent enough to guide another in this.
I have always watched temperatures and used that as a lead in sign. Without that it is simply going to be a wait and see, but with the trembling and panting it does sound close. Is she scratching - almost frantically - and nesting yet? That can be another sign. In regards to discharge, I don't know what exactly you are referring to, but the birth will involve a lot of messes. I hope someone else is ready to chime in, but meanwhile this is a sit tight and wait time. If you notice hard contractions keep track of the time that they start. If vet care is needed they will want to know this. CC |

Re: Need Help!!
With the one foster girl that littered, she paced through the full birthing process and dropped her while walking through my back porch (small mixbreed - she had a singleton). There I was carrying a towel around behind her, just in case as she would absolutely not settle, and it was a good thing I had it with me. Of course then I started hollering at others in the home (that had given up following her) for more clean towels.
Wishing the best for you and Celeste through this. CC Last edited by comfortcreature; 13-11-2010 at 06:08 PM.. |
