My pregnant Cav off her food
Hi everyone i was wondering if anybody has any ideas what i can feed my 4 week pregnant cavalier as she's gone off her usual food. I 've been told to put her on a puppy food but shes not entertaining that either. Shes alot more interested when i mix in something a little tastier like some cooked ham but i don't really want to do this for long. I've also added some scrambled egg and rice at certain intervals and she eats better but not great. This is been goin on for over a week now and I am considering a vet visit. Thanks

Re: My pregnant Cav off her food
Newbie here too!
Our girl was the same and we tried every food imaginable I was beside myself with worry and was about to arrange a vet visit but decided to try Royal Canin Convalesence diet which is a tinned food and Bingo! she loved it and a few days later she went on a puppy complete food. ![]() |

Re: My pregnant Cav off her food
I have had a chat with the vet and he said I could try science plan just to get her back to eating but she has been having some iams (dry) but i'm goin to have to get her on puppy food if she is expecting. She s having her scan today so thats not long to wait now. When they say puppy food does it matter what sort as it might be easier keeping her on the iams brand now?
Thanks again for all your help ![]() |

Re: My pregnant Cav off her food
Not really but i'm not sure i'm making it worse by hand feeding her..its like she sits there like the queen expecting me to "Commence with the feeding already!"
I just can't help myself. I am off up town today to see if i can get her some tastier food to sample. And she was scanned with a sheep scanner so i'm quite confident that its right but hay i wouldn't mind another couple of surprises in about a months time Thanks for all your support xx |
