You will be okay!! Do not worry! Stay calm and relaxed for her that way she may feed off of your energy. Congratulations and I cannot wait to see pics!

Ok - I would start moving her to the place where she will be whelping the pups - a quiet spare bed room is ideal keep this room warm - - you should sleep in there with her from now ( if she only has a few more days to go ) until a week or so after she's had the pups. - your male dog and any other pets should NOT be allowed into this room during whelping or in the early days afterwards.
you'll need a whelping box and it's useful to buy a complete whelping kit this one is very good. Whelping kits | Whelping boxes | Heat pads from Petnap Ltd | kittening

Stay with her each time she goes to the loo - it's not unknown for a bitch to give birth to a pup when going to the loo.

place your whelping box on a plastic sheet covered with on old blanket or sheet to protect your carpet -inside your whelping box you need to place the waterproof backed liner with a thick covering of newspaper on top - you will need a good light source ( a standard lamp or angle poised lamp is ideal placed at the side of the box and have a comfy chair for you next to the whelping box ( labour can take a long time ) - have your phone with you and your vets emergency number to hand.

You'll also need at least three pieces of hypoallergenic fleece ( vet bed is best ) this is to line the whelping box once the pups have been born - you'll also need a small cardboard box lined with vet bed in which to keep the newborn pups whilst mum is still giving birth to the others. scales to weigh the newborns , and pen and paper to record their weight an any other details.

Lots of novice owners are uncomfortable about taking their bitches temperature ( a lower temp is a sign that whelping is about to start ) do'nt worry too much about this it can drop and rise quite quckly so that the drop is often missed.

Birthing and caring forthe pups can be a messy process you'll need LOADS of newspaper - much more than you think so begin collecting it now -

do buy the 'book of the Bitch' it really is an excellent guide to the whole process - and come back on here for any other questions or help we can give.-

Re: Would you share this experience with me and guide me

I'd have to echo ClaireandDaisy's advice about having your bitch spayed, not what anyone wants to hear, and I'm not trying to sound harsh or mean, but whelping is risky, and your girl is quite old I believe for a first time litter from that size of breed.

If you go ahead with the whelping, I suggest you get her spayed pretty much as soon as you can, if she comes into season again and the same dog catches her, you may well be in the same position again. Spaying is instantaneous where as a dog that has been neutered can still sire a litter for several months after the op, although I'd still have him done as well.

I'd also suggest you draw up a contract for any pups and state that the off spring need to be spayed/neutered and will not be bred from. You need to do two copies of the contract, explain it very clearly to the puppy owners, and both sign each contract to say they understand and you've explained it to them. My worry is your bitch is irregular and has silent seasons, which is basically a reproduction issue, and really she shouldn't have been bred at all.

Good luck, I hope whatever happens your bitch comes through ok, and any pups are healthy and have good homes lined up.

Re: Would you share this experience with me and guide me

Think she is due any day now. Im all ready and prepared now and a little calmer about the whole thing, think ive accepted it finally

I have to go ahead with it Sleeping Lion, i dont have a choice I found out too late. But I appreciate what you said and have learned a lesson well, both will be at the vets asap to avoid any further little ones

She seems very sorry for herself yesterday and today and has been having runny poo's ( sorry ). I had to wash her bottom and she wasnt happy! She normally loves being groomed but wont tollerate it and she could really do with a bath but im scared it will be too risky shes so uncomfortable.
Ive taken 2 pictures this morning so hope this works - sorry if it doesnt first time ive tried to put one on here. x

Im praying for a safe delivery and healthy mum and babies and thank you Tanya for your number, I promise I will try not to ring you in the middle of the night xxx
