Unhappy Feeling sad

Our last pup went today (12 weeks) bless her, she has gone to a fantastic home and will be spoilt rotton (lets just say we've found out money is no object & she has her own employee to take care of her daily needs!!!!!) but i cant stop crying
Our previous litter we kept a pup (this litters mum) so never had that empty feeling. I thought i'd be fine , just a bit teary when they left as i have been with the other 6 but when she went today i just keep crying.
Im just glad i wont be having another litter for at least 2 years, dont know how these full time breeders handle it

Re: Feeling sad

I know just how you feel - I was exactly the same when Evie's last pup went - of course, we didn't know at the time we'd be bringing him back after a couple of days! It does get better, especially if the new owners keep in touch and keep you updated on the pups' progress. In the meantime, sending you big cyberhugs to help cheer you up!

Re: Feeling sad

Hi I haven't done the breeding thing but I do know that those puppies are somebodies babies - being smothered with love and treats and the apple of somebody's eye! They will have so much attention - yuou musn't feel sad - just remember how you felt when you bought your babies home for the first night!!

Re: Feeling sad

I've been thinking about breeding in the future but I think I'd have to keep them all!

I know its hard letting them go. We are keeping one so it makes it a bit better, (like you said it did for you last time) but when my last little girl went today I was dreading it, kind of hoping they wouldn't turn up, although I knew I couldn't possibly cope with two puppies. Still have one more to go next week and I know the longer I have him the closer I am getting to him, probably what has happened with you, 12 weeks is a long time. Big hugs, feel for you.

Re: Feeling sad

It's awful when you really bond - and how can you help not bonding with pups you've actually bred, even though you know they are going to go to new owners from the minute they are conceived? I remember weeping buckets over Jayjay - he was my favourite in the litter; my nickname for him was Danny-boy. After Alan came to see him and said he wanted him, I was sitting and nursing him and singing Danny-boy to him - and when I came to the part that goes, "Tis you tis you must go and I must stay" I almost phoned Alan back and said I'd changed my mind! Anyway, I'm glad I didn't - he's got a fabulous life now - and Alan is brill about letting me see him!
