If you showed her and she did well then maybe that would proove to her breeder and any potential stud owners that she is of suitable quality for breeding.

I can't see any reason why the distance she lives from you woudld have anything to do with you not breeding of her. I have someone who owns 2 of my bitches who lives literally 5 minutes away and has bred from one of them. The only reason I was not happy about it was because the bitch was only 16 months at the time of mating but when anyone said that she denied the age of the bitch. That was until I found out and as I bred the bitch she could no longer deny it.
Apart from her ear no. After talking with other sheltie showers at blackpool dog show I decided I wanted to show Alaska however, shes a little nervous because she broke her leg during her "socialisation period" so she is a little scatty at the moment, shes getting better everyday (and shes great once shes been around you for a while) but we are taking her to her first dog show its only a fun one but we want to see how she copes before taking her into a real dog show.

Re: Do I tell her?

An experienced breeder can perhaps take a pup from a line and despite its lack of some good traits, use it to add something to a line. It may not be a show dog but has some other traits that a breeder feels is lacking from her lines, so she may breed a litter just to see what happens.

However that educated experiment is not something to be undertaken by just anyone and for a new breeder unless they are very, very knowledgeable it is not really to be encouraged. I feel.
They should stick with as good dogs as is possible, otherwise it could become a very expensive exercise, with little chance of good results.
