Poor staffie!!!! :(

I was out on my walk today with my female lab.. and met my friends with their two male labs who are both studs..
All of a sudden they sniff something and seem very interested, so my friend gets them on a lead (thinking maybe there is a bitch on heat around)..

When they stopped she let them off and out comes this tiny little staffie out of the bushes on the other side of the field... they go running towards her sencing she is on heat.. anyway they meet in the middle and one of the boys mounts her and gets in a tie..

Obviously we were too late to stop it.. her owners come towards us and say 'oh well.. lets hope she gets pregnant, nice pups i recon'

We offered to pay half the money for her to take her bitch down the vets and get the injection.. knowing that a tiny shaff X with a big lab = big problems

The owners were having none of it... insisited they let her have the litter.. getting quite exited actually

makes me so mad

(EDITED so theres no trouble) -

She let the dogs off the lead not knowing that there was a bitch on heat about.. we hadnt seen one and thought the boys were just sniffing something else.. then she emerged

Re: Poor staffie!!!! :(

I know that this is going to cause trouble but
1- the bitch shouldn't be out near other dogs while in heat and
2- your friend shouldn't have let the dogs off the lead
Plus if she was tiny i doubt she would be a full staff

My friend let the dogs off the lead because she didnt see the staff... she thought the coast was clear because her boys had stopped sniffing and a bitch was no where to be seen...

she only came out once the boys were off the lead

At the end of the day the staffie owner is at fault but your friend should have kept her dogs on the lead or atleast have recall down 100% and yes i know male dogs tend to ignore all things when they smell a bitch in season, but if their recall was 100% then there wouldn't have been a problem.
and before im told im being mean or harsh i do have experience with male dogs and owners who take their bitches out in season and our males always came back when called

I completely agree, they should have come back when called.. she should work on that

my point is that she admitted fault which is why she agreed to pay... whereas the owners seemed irresponsible by not caring?

They wont do hun they'll just look at the amount of money they can get for pups
If it was my bitch and she tied i'd be truely devestated and would be straight to the vets weither someone else offered to pay or not

I don't see how the male dog owner is to blame? She didn't know there was a female in heat around, so what has she done wrong? The bitch owner is the one at fault in my opinion.
