Re: Pregnant bitch - Help needed

hi and welcome, your first port of call is the vets, which you have already booked you need to confirm that she is definately pregnant and how far? a scan would confirm this and give you a idea of how many weeks she is? i am guessing by your post that she is pregnant then you can obviously see this in her size which varies from breed to breed as to how early they show and if she has had puppies before? get yourself the ' book of the bitch' as well, please let us know what happens at the vet tomorrow? what area are you and what breed is she?

Re: Pregnant bitch - Help needed

Hi there, well done for taking her on.Did they not tell you she was pregnant? What breed is she and do you know how old? What signs does she have? Are you planning to keep the pups or are you planning to get a mismate jab?
I am not a breeder,so wont be of much use im afraid.But a good book to read is 'the book of the bitch' itll give you lots of useful advise.Also have a look at this thread;
My Breeding Info Website
Lots of info on this site (link in the thread).
Hopefully others will be along soon to help you.Good luck

Hi an experienced breeder on here has just set up a brill website with a wealth of info on all aspects of breeding.

another site i recommend is

Canine Reproduction Video and Book on Breeding and Whelping dogs by Debbie Jensen for dog breeders and Whelping Supplies needed to deliver puppies.

brill books are

book of the bitch j.m. evans

Re: Pregnant bitch - Help needed

Vets first! book of the bitch next!
If you could get lets say a birthing partner (someone on here who knows what they are doing) that would be great!! Devildogz springs to mind!! (where are you stubborn git!!!)
BUT!! no one or anything you read should be substituded for a vet if there is call for one!
all the very best! and well done you for taking this dog in!

Re: Pregnant bitch - Help needed

What were the circumstances of the rescue? Is it possible you could contact the original owner to find out how far gone she is and what the dad was etc?
Welcome to the forum and good luck, I'm sure you'll do fine
