Schnauzer for stud

hi all, just thought i'd let people know what we're planning regarding our dog..
we'd really like to stud him out, and because of his lineage we figured it'd be a good idea.
so i'm really here for any advice that you might have, especially regarding prices etc.

all the information you need on him is at his website: Willy The Wonder

Re: Schnauzer for stud

What about health tests?
Oh also your website would do better if it looked a bit more personal i.e explain a bit about your dog and your family etc

Re: Schnauzer for stud

If I were a Schnauzer bitch owner looking for a stud dog, these are just some of the questions I would ask which aren't answered on your site:-

1. How old is the dog? - I wouldn't look at using a dog under the age of 2 (minimum).

2. Has he been successfully tested for all the conditions recommended by the breed club for the breed?

3. How does he measure up to the breed standard? What level has he been shown at and what have been his successes? (The successes of his sire are no guarantee that he will be of similarly good quality - and two shows, one of which appears to be a Companion Show does not constitute a successful showing career)

4. How compatible with his pedigree is that of my bitch? (In other words I would need to see the full pedigree of the dog)

5. Have any endorsements placed by the breeder of the dog been removed so that any resulting pups can be KC registered?

6. Has the dog been used at stud before? If so, can I contact the breeder who used him?

I'm not trying to be picky, but these are some of the genuine questions I would want answering before I decided to use any dog at stud.

Mick

Re: Schnauzer for stud

thanks for all your responses, i'm in the process of updating his website accordingly.

to answer raindog's questions:

1: Wills was born on 24/06/2007

2: He's not been tested yet, but we plan to very soon.

3: Measurement wise, I'll have to take care of that and look up what is required. As for showing him, he's attended two local shows so far, the text under the picture clearly states that just the "Rosette top left & certificate bottom right were from training" the other eleven are from categories entered.

4: You can see from the Lineage page his whole breeding history, it goes back to his great great great grandparents and would have been accessible while checking out the site.

5: There are no restrictions regarding new litters and registering them at the Kennel Club.

6: Wills has not been used as a stud yet.

thanks again for all your input.
