Re: Schnauzer for stud

3: Measurement wise, I'll have to take care of that and look up what is required. As for showing him, he's attended two local shows so far, the text under the picture clearly states that just the "Rosette top left & certificate bottom right were from training" the other eleven are from categories entered.

Totaly agree with the comments made regarding testing etc...thats a must for any stud dog owner.

As for the shows are they Championship, Open or breed club shows? I cannot tell by looking at the picture - but can only see 1 1st place rossette.
Your website will need much more information about your dog and breed - to show people you understand all about your own breed - whats the breed standard etc....from the answers you have given it doesnt sound like you know it yourself - this is something you really should know if you are showing him or studding him out.
Have you been in touch with your boys breeder to see what input they can give you?

Good luck with what you do

Re: Schnauzer for stud

as i've only had the website for a very short while, it's hard to put up information so quickly what with working full time etc..
the shows were open, it seems stupid to enter him into championships for his first experience in competition.
i know a lot about the breed, and just because it's not shown on my website it doesn't mean i'm ignorant regarding Schnauzers.

it's important not to be over critical regarding the website, as it's something i'm constantly working on.

I understand what you are saying, but you asked for advice and the only information available to people wanting to offer that advice is what is currently on your website. As you said in your original post, "all the information you need on him is at his website: Willy The Wonder"

Re: Schnauzer for stud

i like constructive criticism, but comments like "does not constitute a successful showing career" seem a little odd.
they are simply awards from his first two shows, at no point did i say he had a successful showing career!
he will do even better, and it all takes time and effort. after two shows, any owner would be proud of eleven rosettes, no?

advice that is straight to the point is great, but asking for his history when there's a link showing five generations seems very strange.

Have you said to the breeder about studding yet as they may know bitches that would be suitable for his lines, confirmation etc...

That's rather the point! I personally wouldn't consider using a dog at stud unless it had a substantial successful show and/or working history, and, as I said, I don't think 11 rosettes is enough to prove his worth as a representative of his breed.
Similarly, brilliant champions can sometimes produce below average dogs - the pedigree is a good indication of his potential, but only an indication. Consistent success in the showring over time would/will be a much better indication.
