Smile Can anyone help with advice on how to find a suitable stuff dor my girl?

Hi,

I have a mastiff x Rottie girl who is my pride and joy. She has such a wonderful temprement I have decided to have a go at making her a mum but and at a loss as to how to find a suitable mate for her.

We are based in Kent/SE London border and do not want to have to travel 100's of miles.

If anyone can give me some advice I would be grateful!

Can I ask why you want to make her a Mum?

Is your girl health tested for conditions found in both breeds which she is crossed with?

I suggest you look long and hard at doing this.
You will need to test for all the things rotties AND Mastiffs have then you need to find a tested male but then what breed would you go for with that? would it be a mutt or a pedigree?

I would suggest that finding a pedigree would be difficult, good stud owners will not allow there dogs to cover crossbreeds or non reg bitches. It is also written into some breed clubs code of ethics.

I think you will find it difficult finding a reputable breeder that will allow their dog to go stud with a crossbreed.

I have a Rottie x Mastiff girl as nice as she is, I wouldn't consider taking a litter from her whats there to gain from it? Nothing.

Just another mongrel litter you could have difficulty finding the right homes for and they would need to be placed carefully as I have found this cross to make a highly strung pet that needs lots of consistant training. So I wouldn't recommend that you breed her or you could well find yourself in 12 months time having to take a few of those puppies back to place again as they have been placed in totally inapropriate homes. Is this something that you would be willing to do should it happen?

She has a wonderful temprament and is certainly not highly strung like both breeds can be if not trained correctly. She is a wonderful family pet, many of my friends and family have shown an interest in her and constantly ask if I would allow her to have a litter. She adopted my rottie pup 6 months ago when she was rejected by her mother at 8 weeks and looked after her incredibly well considering she was not her own and is still very watchful of her. (even when she is biting her ears!)

She is nearly 5 and want to make the decision before she gets past being in her prime she enjoys the company of children of all ages, cats, and even rabbits without batting an eyelid . She has been checked by the vet and hip scored, heart & lung tests blood tests etc which have all come back with excellent results and show no underlying health issues.

I would not expect a breeder to trip over themselves to breed with a cross breed but would hope there was an owner like myself who would like the look fo her.

You have answered a reason for not breeding her in your last post IMO " she is a family Pet" Why not just enjoy your girl as that. Breeding her does not mean you will get like for like!!!!!!!

Exactly, she is a pet, not breeding material.

Being nearly five, I would say thats a little too old to consider letting her have her first litter - it takes an awful lot out of them.

What was her score??

Of course there would be many people that would like the 'look' of her as many would only be interested in the pound signs, they wouldn't give you or your dog a seconds thought should she or her off spring run into any problems, I don't know anyone who would be willing to use their stud to your girl who valued their reputation, I wouldn't do it as a stud dog owner.

I'm not trying to come across as horrible, so please don't think like that. I'm just trying to be honest and make you see even though there are people out there that would let you use their dog, they don't care about you or her, just the money they can make from allowing you to use their dog

Sorry but i do not agree in cross breeding
Why not just keep her as a family pet
