Re: Can anyone help with advice on how to find a suitable stuff dor my girl?

I'm afraid I don't agree with breeding a crossbreed either. Keep her a family pet, at her age, its just not worth breeding from her. Just my opinion, but I would keep her a pet.

I have nothing against crossbreeds, infact my husband owns a purpose bred crossbreed (GSD X BC) who he is going to work in competition when the dog is old enough.

Your girl is obviously a super dog and I well understand why your friends and family would want one like her, unfortunately when you breed from a cross breed you never know what you will get, you may get a litter of dogs just like her, but it is very unlikely.

If she were mine, I would just enjoy the fantastic dog that she is and not put her through the risk of having a litter of pups.

The perfect dog doesn't exist IMO and breeding a cross with something else is certainly not going to make any breed better is it?

Well you have good results from the tests just ask the vets opinion because you wont here anything nice from people on here. Ive just read crosses are healthier because the same breed aint mixing together so you wont get their problems. But just check with your vet. Good luck with finding a stud.

Vets don't know alot about what conditions are within a certain breed, crosses are no more healthier than peds because they can inherit problems from both breeds.

Hi - I am sure your girl is gorgeous, I have a ridgeback/boxer cross and I can't walk anywhere new with people commenting on how lovely he is but I would never consider breeding from him as as a cross I would not get him again. Plus I got my dog from rescue as a puppy as the people who bred couldn't find homes for all the pups.

You say you have people interested but your dog could have 13 puppies, have you 13 people who definitely want them. I have heard people are having problems finding homes for kc rotties at the moment as rotties have so much bad press, so you could have even more difficulty.

Finally please think of your bitch, she is 5 quite old to starting breeding from, think of the risks.

I've nothing against cross breeds, I've got two, but I can't see a valid reason for breeding here, five is pretty old for a first litter too.

What sort of a stud are you looking for? What breed? Do you want them health tested and hip scored as well? I think you will struggle to find a good stud that's available to a cross breed.
