Agility measuring! (cheshire)

bit desparate to say the least

i have a show on the 21st november and i wasnt aware of rule changes and having dogs measured before shows....!!
(not competed for a few years lol!)

my dog is obviously large - ie measured her myself + to look at shes bigger than a collie (shes springerx collie)

im in cheshire and need to get her measured asap..... any day/any time/anywhere (within reason)!

if anyone can help id appreciate it!!!

ive already emailed the KC people in cheshire... ive found one on the 5th dec but obviously too late but that may be what i'll have to do (miss the show!)

thank you

Hi

You do need your dog to be measured before competing, but if there is measuring at the show you are going to, you can still compete.

Large dogs only need measuring once, all the others have to be measured 12 - 24 months after their first measurement.

Is it Myerscough you are going to, Wilmslows show?

Kate

p.s. You do need to get your Kennel Club Record Book prior to being measured, as the measurers will make the entry in it. Go to the KC website to order one, they are only a few pounds.

Re: Agility measuring! (cheshire)

Yep!!

Thats the one. Its a bit basic!! And you fill in the front page yourself, but when you go to get your dog measured the measurers will complete the bit re. height for you.

You may be lucky at Myerscough, there are two measurers in the area who I would think will be at that show, they usually measure during lunch. I will keep an ear out about it and let you know. Sometimes it is literally a week before the show and they decide to be there because so many people want to be measured.

It costs a couple of £ payable to the measurers on the day, they take the dogs into a back room, or somewhere away from the dogs and use a small plastic frame in the shape on a n which they place over the dogs shoulders, but with a large dog they just need to look if it is obvious!

I don't understand why larges need to be measured if there is no doubt, seems like a waste of time to me!

I am entered at Myerscough, I was there a few weeks ago and my dog actually ran out the ring to the pigs ears in a box under the dog food shop table!!! I called her back and went on to complete the course clear!!! Shame I had already been eliminated!

Re: Agility measuring! (cheshire)

Hi

There is definately measuring at the show now, starting from 10.30am. Look on the Agility net site for the measurers email, you will need to contact her to arrange a time, they usually do them in 10 minute slots. PM me if you cant find the thread.

I am sure you will be able to enter your dog in the classes before it, as long as it is getting measured at the show and as it is large, it is not as if there will be any dispute.

I would run what classes you have beforehand and turn up for the measuring at what time you are given, just don't make a big deal about it, there are so many dogs there, they won't know if you have run or not.

It is usually about £3, which you give to the measurer, this covers their transport to the show and a bit of their time.

See you there!

Kate
