Re: Agility measuring! (cheshire)

Well!!!

I actually met you PP and Nic. I know Nic is going to the show, as she is being measured and you said you may go along.

I have never met anyone from a message board before - but there is always a first time!

Anyone is welcome to watch, however dogs not entered in the competition are no supposed to be taken to the show, although I am not sure how they could police it with such an open venue.

Myerscough tends to be a bit manic, as it is indoors, there is lots of noise echoing around the indoor school, not the best place for a dog just starting out!

Kate
It kind of polices itself, because dogs aren't allowed in the seating area you watch from, or any other part of the building. There is a separate entrance for the rings and queueing area, which is always crowded with competitors and their dogs. To take any other dog in there would be madness. You could take a dog on the exercise field outside, but given the rain here it will be a complete swamp.

Re: Agility measuring! (cheshire)

Hi

Yes I will be going on my own, I occassionally get the day out on my own from other half and daughter - twice now in five years!!! - Will be becoming a habit soon!

How about meeting up at 10.00, near the treat table - It is usually situated between the two arenas and where they do the measuring. Bearing in mind that either of us may be running at some point, don't worry about too prompt!

I will have my dog, a corgi? x Collie, small dog with one ear up and one ear down, but you would tell she could be corgi x. I know a few from Wilmslow, but if you asked Andrea who Kate is who used to train with her at Ribble with Harry, she would point you in the right direction.

I forgot that dogs aren't allowed up on the seating area, but to be honest, it is bedlam around the ring, not a good place to start a dog off and I dread to think what a mess the field will be.

If you want to find it, directions are from Wigan, take the M6 North, come off at J32 onto the M55, towards Blackpool, but stay in the left lane and come off at 1st Junc. and then go under the bridge onto the A6, which is signposted Garstang. You basically stay on this for about 4 miles and then it is signposted off to the left. It is the same turn as 'Old Nells' which you can't miss. Once you are on the B road it is usually accessed from the second entrance into the college (the garden centre one), on the right side of the road.

It is free to come in, head for The Arena or something like that, I just follow everyone else!

Maybe see you there at 10.00? Wear a red carnation and carry a Financial Times

Kate

Re: Agility measuring! (cheshire)

i wont say for definate as i will probably be a nervous wreck and end up forgetting something (probably the dog).....

but i will try my best to remember what you said

failing that - i'll be the mad blonde one with the springer x crying in the corner
haha so just look out fo rme

that will be madness - no dogs allowed on teh seating area

why??

when we last went (many moons ago) we were allowed up there with our dogs which was fab as one of mine was a cow and woludnt stand for other dogs being around her (just thank god mil loves dogs), i couldnt even stand in the queue - i had to get someone else to stand there for me and id just jump on the line lol!!!

oh dear.... i predict chaos!!!

Re: Agility measuring! (cheshire)

Hey

Its your first show isn't it? Then just be happy if your dog stays with you in some form or other in the ring. If you do one jump think yourself blessed!!!

As I told you, I have done probably five shows now with this dog and even been placed, but the last show at Myerscough she ran out the ring!!

Its dogs and anything could happen!

Have you got any rescue remedy? May be a good idea to have a glug!

I am also blondish, probably just old enough to be your mum!

There are lots of Springers, so will have no idea who you are, but not many short long bodied Poppys, so I will stand out a mile!
