She is from working lines and is pretty nippy round the field.

At our dog group theres 2 labradors which are on the display team which do both agility and flyball as long as they have a keen interest in tennis balls and come back to you then they should be fine

Re: Are labradors any good at flyball

our black lab Millie does agility and flyball and has done demonstrations for the dogclub. she picked up flyball straight away (she is obsessed by her tennis ball). she is also very quick, at our xmas dogclub party she came second in the speed recall, beating quite a few border collies. the other lab max is more solidly built and not so speedy, he tries bless him but is a bit of a lump!!!

Re: Are labradors any good at flyball

I go to a fair amount off Country shows where there is fly ball comps and off the top of my head I cannot recall seeing labs - but that dont meant to say they couldn't do it.

Re: Are labradors any good at flyball

I run a flyball club and we have loads of labs that come and they are usually very good although take a bit longer to focus in the first place but once they understand what to do there is no stopping them. Flyball is great as all teams are 'seeded' on the time they raced in there last 3 tournaments so you always race teams who do times that are about the same as yours so although a lab may not be the fastest they can be just as competitive. Also there are loads of multibreed tournaments througout the year and every dog in the team has to be a different breed for those (only one cross breed alolowed) Check out the British Flyball Association website and look at the breed analysis and you will see there are loads of labs and Woody who is top lab of all time has 50,889 points! that gives him his saphire award. Only 19 dogs in the UK have this award and only 11 are collies so the rest are 'other breeds'
