hi ive just got a border collie x lab puppy she is 8 weeks old,i want to train her up and get her into agility trainning but not sure were to start as i want to get it all right. she is very clever already and think she will take to it.

also does anyone know coz she isnt full border collie can i enter her into competions obveously when she is ready and if so what sort of ones. thanks

Im not sure how to go the right way about it all I now is you can jump them untill they are a year old?

Hi Agility should not be done untill dogs are 1yr old,so as not to damage the dog,at that age most dogs can do agility,i would recommend when your dog is about 6 mnths old ring round local clubs to put your name down as lots have waiting list,a good thing to do untill dog is old enough is teach obediance as in agility dogs have to sit,wait at times,Agility is fun for owners and dogs my 2 love it.Dogs dont need to be pedigree to do agility both mine are x breeds i have put pics on another agility thread on here.

Hi alot of borders do agility most are really fast,the club i train with have all sorts of breeds/x breeds,my dogs are a Lakeland x other dog we think is jrx yorkie,we are not sure as he was dumped in a box aged about 6 wks old,hes 3 yrs now and is like a child let loose in a play park at agility,he loves the tunnels and see saw lol lol,

You could train for sit, wait (need a good strong wait), recall (need a strong recall too), directions (left and right) and contacts (getting them to sit and wait at the end of a plank).
