Good to hear you both had a great time.

It's always us that need the training

Re: chase's 1st agility class

I'm hoping to try agility with my boy when he's old enough. It's a long way off yet but I'm sure he'll pick it up faster than me. I am blonde after all!
What did he do in his first class?

Re: chase's 1st agility class

The first class they do very low jumps on lead and maybe try the dog walk and tunnel. Nothing too difficult. Or at least thats what Sophie and Buster did.

Question Re: chase's 1st agility class

How old should dogs be to do agility training?
I will soon have 2 Chinese Cresteds and I see that this breed loves agility training. Already I can see with Sing Lung, my powder puff who is 11wks old, that he will need to be all he can be!!

They should be at least a year before you start training its pretty high impact and the jumping excetra could damage their joints and to compete they have to be 18 months.

But you can start the basics from any age - a good strong wait is essential, teach them to turn to the right and left on command.
If you wanted to get them used to the equipment, place poles on the floor for them to step over. Don't get them to jump or weave though as this could damage the growing bones etc.

You'll have great fun.

Re: chase's 1st agility class

3rd class 2nite!

Chase is doing really well- the tunnel was a bit of an issue the first time he tried but he soon got the hang of it! (he wanted to walk round with me!) did the box, table, walkways, A frame, and jumps.

Re: chase's 1st agility class

Hi guys ang girls,
I took my dog to an agility class to see how she would get on and although she is 7 yrs old now she loved it. A great way for dogs to be excercised the way they would ask you to if thet could talk. She is a cross collie/alsation so is made for this sort of training.
Pleased that chase enjoyed his first class, Kelly.
