How did people think of their KC names?

I'm registering Fritha on the activities list and cant think of anything, can it be anything? like a phrase like erm....

"watch out fritha about"???

or does it have to be something following her name, i want something good, but not to sound daft when she is called lol

Thanks all

Abi

Re: How did people think of their KC names?

oh god now thats a fun question lol
i go through books upon books some are named after birds some flowers, american indians, some even got a mixture of race horse names, some have got ones just made up. like litma running in the moonlight, oh one i named running windfree lol as a pup i heard a big passing of wind coming out of him.
i make big lists of names i like then whittle them down to one's i really like.
i try to match names to the nature of the dog.

You can have up to 23 letters, you can't use the word dog, any trade names, any breeders registered names, anything rude. And you can use phrases, I like 'watch out fritha about'. Others I like I have come across are
My red jumper (a red collie)
Full body wag
Reannes flippin' heck

Re: How did people think of their KC names?

My dogs are Moonlight river roma and Borderstorm Spot on, they both are breed kc reg i only got to choose the Spot on and thats because he is the first spotty Borderstorm and looks just like his had Del Boy (without the tri) my dog i had to reg as a wsd ended up with brave tyke!!!!!!!!! it's a merle there is nothing brave about him the kc made this name up as my choices had already gone.

Just remember people only hear the name if u get a place and and its always fun to try and make someone slip up when trying to read it out. I have a friend that had race horses and now grey hounds he loves trying to come up with names that are a bit naughty and you would not belive what they have passed pmsl

God luck it will drive u mad

Re: How did people think of their KC names?

my lab when i lived at home decended from 'Dame of Selkirk' and 'Duchess of Selkirk' - you get the drift. Well we named Kim 'Cathy's Clown' after my mother. Bit of a comedown

Re: How did people think of their KC names?

My friend has named her spaniel X GSD 'Bugger Lugs'......because he is. Don't know whether it will be accepted or not

I registered both mine on the register, they are:

Zak................his posh name is 'Zak Aria'

Tilly................her posh name is 'Tilly Bea'..........(Bea is short for Beardmore, it's my surname)

Didn't want to be writing a great long name down on the entry forms

More likely to be accepted if it's written out as Bug a Lugs or Bugga Lugs.
