My dog is named Jack Box
He was found in a box aged about 6 wks old,i asked my 6yr old grandaughter what she would name an animal found in a box ,straight away she said Jack as in "Jack in a Box" so thats how he got the name

Ours are named after albums - we thought about doing songs from a certain decade but could never agree on the decade.

Re: How did people think of their KC names?

I chose Sidney after Sid James. Sidney looks like him with all the wrinkles.

I wanted a KC name to go with the name, so Leoti came up with The Rumpol Kid, after Sid James played him in a Carry on film.

Re: How did people think of their KC names?

My tri collie whose name was Fly was comp named Flymo ..... when she was a puppy we had the litter out in the garden (she was born on a farm and i visited every Sunday until she was 8 weeks) ... anyway they were all playing and as she was the only tri and the most confident of the litter so she really stood out and was flying about all over the grass ... so we called her Flymo like the lawn mower and it just kinda stuck

I miss my girly

Re: How did people think of their KC names?

We've got a tibetan breed and really wanted a tibetan word for our affix. We researched as many tibetan words and phrases as we could find and made a list... quite a long one at first but then narrowed it down to about 10-12. Then we spent a few days trying each name out... saying it, writing it, making up pretend lists (like in a show catalogue) to see if they fitted in or stood out or even looked silly.
In the end we settled on Shazhencan which translated means loyal and to save the Kennel Club making the decision for us from a list of 5 choices we did the entry online and it was granted
