Looking for an agility club......

Hi Folks I'm looking for an agaility club in the Telford Shrops area that has space for a YKC beginner with a very enthusiastic pom.

Any help would be great.

Re: Looking for an agility club......

The website Agilitynet has a database of agility clubs nationwide with their contact details, have a look there (clubs a-z) and start ringing round! Good luck.

Re: Looking for an agility club......

I had used that site before and had attempted to contact Agility Addicts a couple of times with no response but never mind I have been back on there and found another club in Shrewsbury that cater for Juniors as well as adults so hopefully we can get him in there.

Thankyou for your help.

Sarah

Re: Looking for an agility club......

You say you want a place for a YKC trainee, do you mean a child or specifically a club running under KC? Some clubs are KC linked, some aren't. Agility Addicts is independent, not KC, they have a different grading structure and different height categories for the dogs. There are also BAA (British Agility Association), EMDAC (East Midlands Dog Agility Clubs) and other independent organisations who have their own rules. I think that if the agility part of YKC activities, it would have to be a club using KC rules. The training should cover the same criteria though, and you can compete under any/all of the banners. Until a few years ago, the KC banned people who competed under the other banners.

Re: Looking for an agility club......

It's for my son he's 8 yrs old and very keen to get started, I have emailed a club in Shrewsbury so hopefully they will get back to me soon. It doesn't have to be YKC or KC for that matter as he only wants to do it for fun at first it will depend on whether he gets into it and enjoys it enough to want to take part in competitions then it will be up to him, if he wants to eventually take it seriously enough that he wants to start doing comps then we will then look for a club that would be happy to have a YKC kid on board.

Thanks for your help

Take care
Sarah
