The cost of agility

I was updating Ziggy's records today, and saw she had clocked up 638 commpetitive runs over the last 5 years. At the current rate of around £2.60 per run, that's a horrific £1,658. And then there's the camping fees and fuel which usually come to at least the same as the entry fees. And now I'm starting the whole thing again with Kite. Mad or what!

Re: The cost of agility

I wouldn't like to think how much it has cost me!!! I've been competing for 11 years now, Bertie for 8 years, a few jumping classes with Boomer, Teagan for 7 years, Skye now for 3.5 years and hopefully Star will be out next year, there's training costs, fuel costs (more when towing caravan) and camping fees!

Where do you all go when you are doing agility - do you ever travel to the Borders?

Well I'm doing Wigton near Carlisle on Saturday. I've done Avon once, Glennifer about 3 times, and Perth once - won't be doing that again, it took 5 hours to get there! I've done Dundee too. Diesel was around 85p/litre back then. Oh happy days!

Normally I go around northern England. For a couple of years, until a year ago when I sold it, I was doing up my late mother's house in Nottingham, so did quite a few midlands shows to break up the work.

No, far too far for me! I do shows in Essex, Kent, E. Sussex, Surrey, Suffolk, Herts.

Re: The cost of agility

I added up just my entry and camping fees for our first year competing, and it came to over £500. Add to that training costs and diesel and it's a pricey hobby!

We compete all over the North East.

Re: The cost of agility

Ok, I just looked on ISS to see how much I've spent on competitions!!! This year, competing 1 dog, with just a few allsorts with another, it's been 433.55, total since Feb 2004 3448.15, there are shows over that time that I entered that didn't have entries through ISS or camping (DIN last year being about 80).
