Re: Oscar's starting agility on Wednesday!

We've just got home from his first class and he seemed to really enjoy it!

We did small jumps, through the tunnel and the weaves. He did a really good job on the jumps and the weaves but got a bit confused on the tunnel, because he would start to go in then look back for me/OH and try to come back out to follow us around the outside. He managed it a few times without stopping though, which I thought was brilliant for his first try.

I was very relieved to find that he wasn't the least obedient dog in the class too! We had a few goes around the equipment off lead and he mostly stayed with me or OH and when he did wander off he came back without too much trouble. I had been worried that when he got into the arena (the class is in the indoor school of a riding stables) with all the other dogs he would just go mental and forget all his training, but he was pretty good.

We're definitely looking forward to going back next week! We got a couple of photos, but I can't find the cable to get them off the camera right now, so as soon as I do I'll put them on and show him off

I'm still living at home so not too sure when I will be able to get a collie. I keep trying!! I've wanted one for years and years but my dad wanted a goldie and mum wanted bella I run both of the trainers collies, they are both very different. I have to remember to change how I run to which dog i've got lol.

Quite looking forward to getting my own though as then I can start from the beginning, the dogs I run are grade 5 & 6 so are alot more experienced than me!!

I haven't ran a smaller dog before. Although may start to run the trainers jack russell soon once we get the fencing back up around the little area of feild we do it in lol.

LDR - Sounds like he did really well

He did, we were very proud of him

He was very excitable and bouncy when we got home though - kept running around the house and grabbing things he's not supposed to chew. I've just taken him out for a short walk to use up a bit of his energy and he's having a lie down now. Hopefully when we've been a few more times we won't need as much time explaining how to do everything and he'll be able to have more goes on the equipment, so he'll get a bit more exercise and use more energy doing it.

OH and I are already talking about buying jumps and weaves and a tunnel for the garden, lol.
