Faults in agility

We did a course last week and our trainer did it as if we were in a competition, Without the time for the speed... we run as a medium size.
and we had 10 faults, I thought this was a lot... then our trainer said that we got 5 faults for knocking off the jump bar... and 5 for missing one of the weave poles... so all in all not too bad.
I just wondered how the fault thing worked... do you get 5 points each time you do something wrong, or is there different levels of points... anyone know..
Thanks

Yes, it's 5 faults for knocking a bar off a jump/a brick out of a wall/part of the long jump, 5 faults for a missed contact, 5 faults for missing a weave pole as long as you go back and do it correctly without doing any other equipment in the mean time, 5 faults for a refusal/run by, 3 refusals and you're eliminated or do the obstacles in the wrong order and you're eliminated, there's also time faults if you go over the course time, they are the same amount as the seconds you are over the course time (if course time is 40 secs and you do it in 42.44 secs you get 2.44 faults)

That's right. But though you can get 5 faults for missing the weave entry, then another 5 if it happens again, there is only one lot of 5 faults if the dog comes out of the weave several times whilst doing them, not 5 faults for each time the dog comes out or misses a pole.
