Re: We went to agility yesterday!

I wouldn't worry too much about his behavior. They are all juiced up and running on adrenalyn. My friends collie, who is the best behaved and trained dog I have ever come accross (seriously), when she has finnished her run she exits the ring like a tasmanian devil! She snaps and lunges at other dogs she is just to hyped up. She has never made contact with another dog and clearly is not attempting to--it's as if she hasn't yet run off all the adrenalyn in her body and needs to get it all out. When people who know her see her do this for the first time they are totally shocked!

Re: We went to agility yesterday!

Alot of dogs at my agility class go for Blu. Personaly it bugs the hell out of me that my dog is suffering because people can't control their dogs and let them snap everywhere then say the dogs have 'issues'. If they are going for other dogs then I think they should stand out of the way of the line and gradualy be brought closer each week as they improve. Why should the dogs that just sit and behave be pounced on for no reason. Sorry but it just really bugs me because I've had so many problems with Blu and people who don't try solve the problem as soon as it starts just do more damage to the other dog. It can also put the behaving dogs off agility like the person who let their dog try go for Blu just as he went through the tunnel and it took a month to get him over the fear of the tunnel!

Yeah this can be a really big problem! When I took bella once she was chased into the soft tunnel, put her off it for ages and it was hard to get her confidence up again. But the OP has only been twice so wasn't aware of what he would do. At least they will know for next time to gradually get closer to the dogs.

I think at times it would help if the instructers were stricter because at mine it gets laughed off/the snappy dog gets praised. People really don't realise the damage something so simple can do to other dogs. Blu doesn't like the collapse tunnel anymore because of something similar with a dog pouncing when he came out the end of the tunnel. Agility show in 2 weeks aswell..! Will probaly just be Blu running circles and not listening to me

Hehe yeah thats why I don't take bella anymore! She isn't really an agility dog! lol I just run the trainers border collies lol. Our trainer is quite strict the other dog was put back on the lead and wasn't allowed off again all lesson just did some work with control over jumps and things. Couldn't risk it happening again as it just reinforces the fear!!

To the OP are you going again this week?

Re: We went to agility yesterday!

I don't let Koda snap at everyone....and have never said he has issues.....he gets told off when he behaves badly and praised when he is good. He is never off lead at the moment so can't chase any dog anywhere.

Not sure about this week, as the classes are on a sunday, and I would like to go to the Rememberance day service in the village....
