Starting Flyball

A group of friends and I got together and purchased/built some agility equipment and we now practice every week and put on displays at local agricultural shows.
I'd now like to introduce flyball to the mix, but I can't find either a reasonably priced box, or instructions to make one.

We all used to belong to the same affiliated agility club and some of us have done flyball (albeit with the old KC style boxes) in the past. Any ideas??

Thanks

Re: Starting Flyball

Thanks for that link Do you know what clubs do with their old boxes when they replace them? I really don't know anything about it, maybe they only replace them when they have completly died . I'm sure I could get my hands on one of the old Crufts boxes, but someone mentioned they were not safe for dogs because of their design. Is this true?

Re: Starting Flyball

Some clubs will sell their old boxes to fund the new ones ( I think our new box cost £600)

Sometimes on ebay you will find the odd box looking for a home

What kind off box are you after?

Re: Starting Flyball

I was really thinking of the BFA boxes as I was under the impression that the old "Crufts" style boxes were less safe. I did see somewhere, plans to make a wooden box, but I can't remember where I saw it.
At an general training club I went to the trainer made a "mock" box with just a sheet of wood (with struts to hold it at an angle) and 2 velcro strips at the top. Someone had to stand at the back of the board (the weight of the dogs would cause it to move) to support it and put the ball on the approriate piece of velcro! Doggie folk are so resourceful!!
