I want to set up a cold water Aquarium,i would like to use a sand for the base, can anyone advise which would be the best sand to use many thanks...........Chris

Non toxic play sand looks quite natural if you're into natural looking set ups. If you have a large tank then it's also cheap as chips to use as a substrate too. However, it needs to be throughly washed through first or you will have cloudy water every time it's stirred up. It's also very, very fine. I'll leave it for you to decide if the cons outweigh the pros or not.

I bought mine out of Toys R Us. Pretty sure it cost me less than a tenner.
