need so advise
hi everyone i have two chinchillas which i have been working on introducing them for the last six weeks, so far everything is going well when i get them out for some play time and when i put them into the same cage they are not fighting but charlie does chase midnight about a bit (not sure if this is just playing) but other than the chasing they dont really go near each other that much. One sits at the bottom of the cage and the other at the top of the cage. they have been coming out together for the past 3 weeks now and at first they would have a few fights (nothing big tho) but now not really fighting.
thing is because they dont get up till about 9 and then they have an hour out to play, so they only get at most 30 min in the same cage together as im not sure im ready to leave them over night yet. what does everyone think i should do now 1. leave them in the same cage over night and see how it goes 2. miss playtime for the night and just put them in the same cage for a couple of hours 3. carry on doing what i have been for another couple of weeks also they are a few things i havent tried yet like feeding them while they are in the same cage and putting the sand bath in while they are in the same cage. they have had a sand bath outside of the cage and was ok midnight waited till charlie got out to get in it. |

Re: need so advise
Have you tried swapping them into eachothers cages every other day and dont change the sand baths?
this gets them used to eachothers scent,Also try putting talc powder into the sand baths aswell as the sand as this gets them smelling the same. I wouldnt leave them in the same cage unless you are there to watch them incase a fight breaks out |
