Re: Chinchillas.
I recently rescued 2 female chinchillas as their student owner had returned home (somewhere abroad) and had left them in the shed of her old (and empty)student house with her friend coming to feed them every so often.
If I had not collected them, I am sure they would have been dead within a week as they were being fed what looked like cat litter, and had not had a sand bath for weeks as the friend was scared of them
These are recent photos - an improvement on a few weeks ago but they still look pretty bad

This is a photo of them from her advert

She was trying to sell the animals for weeks and kept dropping the price from £250 to £50 (with cage and accessories) and I wanted a new cage so contacted her, which is when I realised she was no longer in the UK. I left the cage behind as it's state was disgusting and refused to pay for the animals, telling the friend she could sue me. Funnily enough I have not been sued, and happily the chins are slowly starting to look better and become more active.
