You have a duty BY LAW to provide veterinary treatment for an animal in your care. Having a carrier is no excuse. If you havent got one, go and buy one.

He may very well get stressed at being caught, and travelling, but if rescued wild animals can cope with it, im sure a pet chinchilla can.

There is no excuse for not taking this animal to the vets. If you arent prepared to take full responsibility for owning an animal, may i suggest you rehome it to someone who is.

Sorry if thats harsh, but in my eyes, theres no excuse to let an animal suffer for a prolonged time, when the help is out there and readily available.

Couldn't agree more. Everyone on here does understand. We have all kept chins. I had 21 at one point and i wouldn't hesitate for 1 moment about taking them too the vets if needed.

You have to accept that with any animal purchuse, you need to provide a life long commitment....health/food/accomodation. I bought a cat carrier for my chins before i owned my first one, sorry but it's common sense.

You wouldn't hesitate to get yourself to a doctor if you were in pain, why not do the same for your chin.
A couple of my chins are not easy to handle, a lot of them never become hand tame but a vet knows what to do so thats not an excuse either.

I'm sorry for being harsh but i'm just being honest with you.

Yes, I understand, I will get a carrier very soon. I'm taming him also. Thanks for all your help and I would of took him to the vet, but there is nothing wrong with him, it was just a misunderstanding, I got too worried and turns out he's perfectly fine.
Thanks.

I hope your right - but chinchillas do not have a habit of sittiing under dripping water bottles so I would watch him closely. I still think it would have been more responsible to take him to the vet rather than buy treats.

Personally, I would still take him to the vet for a check up as you were so concerned about his health a few days ago - better being safe than sorry

If he looks so fine now how about taking a new picture of him and posting it on here to put peoples minds at rest.
My guess is no picture will appear

Re: Urgent Help!

So in 3 days he has gone from having a wet chin and not eating to suddenly being ok Sorry after having chins for over 12yrs I find that impossible to believe

What bothers me here is that you are what 13/14yrs of age? Chns are exotic animals and your parents need to recognise that when they allow you to have an animal such as a chin they also need to do their 'homework' as to his care needs . By not getting him a check at a vets they are failing to provide that duty of care . Not having a carrier is a lame / silly excuse and one that is so easily rectified for the sake of just a few pounds . As far as 'taming' is concerned thats the last of our worries and to be honest if you are unable to handle him after 2 yrs I do wonder what you are doing

Please do as Toddy has suggested and at least post a picture of him to set our minds at rest
