Fugal prevention

Hi, I've got a chin named Monty and I'm always scared he will get the above illness, what brand of athletes foot powder would you add to his dust bath? And how much? I would appreciate your advice, Thanks Ryan.

Re: Fugal prevention

Ringworm or any other fungus is not a threat whilst ever there is adequate cleanliness and no exposure to high heat /humidity levels or any damp . If you keep your chins cage and the surrounding area clean and low humidity then in my opinion there is no reason to add anything to your chins sand bath

Re: Fugal prevention

Hi thanks for the advice. His cage is always dry and as it is the normal chin cage with the wire mesh type bottom means he never sits in his pee and his water bottle seems fine.

Re: Fugal prevention

If you have a wire mesh bottom cage you should worry about Bumblefoot that's alot more common in chinchillas and Degus then the above

Re: Fugal prevention

Hi, yeah was reading about that, I'm ok at handeling him and do give him the once over ever so often check jaw line, paws and for lumps etc, his feet seem fine and his back legs are very strong. He has wooden shelves and a sort of blue rough shelf you can buy from well known pet stores, he also has a grassy matt and spends half the time chilling out in his hammock, so he does have quite a few varied surfaces. Ps, he hates my feet in socks and has a go when he is bouncing past.
